A native of Reno, NV, Ryan started saxophone in middle school, and received a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies/Saxophone Performance from Univ of Nevada Reno. He played in several original projects including Sly Buford, The Ryan Parrish Quartet, The Jazz Cavalry, The Droogs of Eidetia, Osmodiar, and The Mark Sexton Band. In 2010 Ryan studied the music of Ghana, Eastern Europe, Japan, Indonesia, and also received his MM in Jazz Reeds/World Music at California Institute of the Arts. Ryan has since performed with other bands including Red Fiction, Maxim Ludwig, The Reverend Shawn Amos, and Ya-Ya, He recorded for Sparks on their album “A Steady Drip Drip Drip”, as well as the original motion picture soundtrack for “Annette”.
