The Winter Recital Performance will be held Sat Nov 18 from 2pm to 3:30pm and December 2 from 1pm to 6:45pm.
Please keep these dates open for the recital and encourage the students to participate. A recital to music education is like a game or tournament in sports – it provides an end goal to practice and be the best you can be. There is an extra commitment for excellence and the performance builds discipline and self-confidence that can be applied to other activities including public speaking and leadership roles in high school.
An excerpt on the purpose of recitals is attached below.
Recitals provide a goal for students to practice and become proficient at performing a music piece in a public venue. A few reasons for a recital:
- A performance experience in a public venue. It builds self-confidence and poise.
- A goal that gives the student a purpose to manage practice time and get all the parts right.
- An experience that involves the entire family and shows you value their participation in music.
- Watching others perform in a live setting provides creative ideas for their next performance.
- The excitement and “nervousness” that will be experienced will carry to other activities including public speaking and sports.
- It’s actually fun!
